Do not compare services only by the advertised fee. Compare the exchange rate, transfer fee and — most importantly — how many Philippine pesos actually arrive in the recipient's account or wallet.
A useful comparison method
Enter the same amount into your bank and one or two transfer services. Keep the destination and payment method identical, then compare recipient gets. Funding a transfer by card can cost more than using an account balance or bank transfer.

ATM tips in the Philippines
Keep withdrawals simple
Use ATMs from established banks, check the fee shown on screen, and remember that your home bank may charge a separate foreign withdrawal or FX fee. If your bank has a fixed withdrawal fee, fewer sensible withdrawals can be cheaper than many small ones.
Keep enough cash for smaller local purchases, tricycles, markets and places where cards may not be practical.
When the ATM offers conversion
If the machine asks whether it should convert the withdrawal into NOK, EUR, USD or another home currency, compare carefully. Travelers commonly prefer to be charged in PHP and decline the ATM's own conversion so their card issuer/network performs the conversion.
Your own card terms still matter, so check them before travel.

Rather than translating every peso in your head, use a small travel budget as a reference. ₱5,000 can cover a mixture of local meals, short local transport and activities — but the exact combination depends entirely on your choices.
Carry a mix
A practical setup is often one primary card, a backup card stored separately and enough pesos for local transport, markets and smaller businesses.
